Statement from the Commissioner of Official Languages – Death of the Honourable Gérald A. Beaudoin
The Commissioner of Official Languages, Graham Fraser, expressed his condolences today following the death of the Honourable Gérald A. Beaudoin.
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Senator Beaudoin. As both a legal scholar and a parliamentarian, he has made an enormous contribution to the discussion of language issues. In addition to his legal and academic rigour, he always brought enthusiasm, candour and good cheer to any discussion he entered.
Until very recently, Senator Beaudoin was a regular and active participant in conferences on language issues. It was always a pleasure to hear him speak on a subject he knew so well and cared about so deeply. He will be greatly missed.”
